This illustration was made as a hypothetical book cover for Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven. I wanted to mimic the art nouveau style many reprints of classical literature use on their covers, but I also wanted to represent a part of the original story. Therefore, the border was given the art nouveau treatment, while the main focus of the illustration was, of course, the raven.
