
The City of Brass
This painting is part of a project I am working on, where I create/design an entire world for a fake video game. This illustration in particular shows the outside of the city where most of the story will take place. The aesthetic was inspired by a blend of steampunk, industrial, and futuristic architecture.
In the City of Brass, a young girl is working for an aristocrat in the upper city to support herself and her sick mother. One day, she stumbles upon a strange device owned by her employer, and accidentally activates it. She is then suddenly sent back in time, where she finds an ancient city with the cleanest skies she has ever seen. After spending a while in this new setting, she realizes no one there is afflicted with the sickness running rampant back in the city. Deciding that this means there is a cure, she sets out to find it, determined to save her mother before it is too late.
