Taiga Goat
When coming up with ideas for this creature design, I wanted to stay on the more realistic side of things. Therefore, I took a speculative evolution approach to this project, in which I created an animal that could have evolved here on Earth. I also knew from the start that I wanted to make a creature that was the “opposite” in a sense of what we expect from them. From this initial concept, I had two ideas that I was torn between; one being a buff deer, and the other being an elegant goat. I eventually decided on creating an elegant goat, because I felt it had a more interesting silhouette. My main sources of inspiration for this animal were nubian goats and white tailed deer, but I also looked at many different horned creatures for horn shapes. In addition, I looked at the coat/feather patterns of animals that live in snowy climates, such as barn owls, arctic foxes, moose, and caribou.
