Mermaids have always been my favorite mythological/fantasy creature, and I have also always enjoyed the style of research journals/bestiaries. Both of those fascinations were combined to make this project. I designed a mermaid species based off of the angler fish, and then wrote about it as if they were recently discovered by science. I gave them features that would actually be plausible if they were real, and I spent a lot of time thinking about how their society would work. These particular pages, I imagine, are from one scientist's journal about the species.
